FAQ

  • Are there any places where the LG Optimus 7 won’t work?

The phone will only work on a compatible mobile network: GSM Quad Band 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, UMTS Tri Band 900 / 1900 / 2100, and HSDPA / HSUPA 7.2M bps / 5.7M bps. If you don’t have access to a compatible mobile network in your area, the phone can still be used on a Wi-Fi network.

  • How do I deploy applications to the LG phone?

You must have a Marketplace account to deploy applications to a Windows Phone 7 device. To create an account, go to http://create.msdn.com. After your account is set-up, you must then register your device under your Marketplace account. You can then deploy applications directly from Visual Studio 2010 Express or via the Windows Phone Application Deployment tool.

  • Who is eligible to receive the LG Optimus 7 phone?

This phone is being provided for full-conference attendees who are onsite at PDC. It is not available to Microsoft employees, members of the media, government employees, staff, speakers, crew, or volunteers.

The phone is great and os too, but the downsize is more of social networking device than business phone. But hope updates are on the way to make the Windows phone 7 more useful. Thanks Microsoft!

  • Loving the LG Optimus Phone, thank you!

What are the correct APN settings to get ATT working on 3G? I only seem to be getting E on the ATT network using APN wap.cingular.

I've had an issue with my phone and the service and support part here doesn't seem to be true. LG is saying that they don't know how to repair or replace mine as of right now.

I talked to an AT&T rep and they said that since the AT&T network did not recognize the phone it would not work with 3G and it may not even support the correct bands for 3G in the US. Also I have had very poor reception with the phone. It constantly drops calls where my previous AT&T phone did not. Has anyone had success with the LG Optimus on AT&T?

My LG is working pretty good on AT&T.

The support folks were not very helpful, telling me that the phone may not work, but then when I pressed them a bit more they gave me some info... I suspect their initial push back it because they didn't sell me the phone and well they don't know much about it the LG be fair to them..

Support did end up telling me that the value for the APN should be:

    wap.cingular

After entering this in the 3g works just fine, seems faster to me than my Android on Verizon.

I, too, don't know where to get support. LG's website (because I'm from the US) doesn't even offer Optimus 7 support.

And, now, I have a phone that randomly won't boot up (cycles through the LG logo repeatedly). Not to mention the random "Volume Down" issue, where the phone keeps reducing my volume to zero. It's fun, though, hitting the volume up button. I make it go louder, and the phone turns it down..

Anyone have any suggestions on support?

I have LG Optimus 7 issues too. I won my phone at a Developer Launch event, and received it the other day. I added the phone to an existing AT&T account, and installed the SIM card. Initially I had voice, but no data, whatsoever. After digging on the net, and putting the wap.cingular APN, for a period of time, I had 2meg download speed, and 1 meg up. But then, i had no MMS, so I followed the advice of another PDC attendee, and used the MFG program to choose the prov_att...xml file and then had voice, data, and mms at great speed.

Then i had to factory reset the phone because it wouldn't register with the development tools. After the reset, again, I repeated the settings above, and now I can't get any more than EDGE speed.

AT&T won't talk to me, and LG says the phone isn't made for US.

I recent experienced random reboot issue with the LG-E900 I got from PDC. I tried to reset the device to the factory setting but it still happening. I contacted LG US support but they referred my to LG US support since LG-E900 is an European model. When I contacted LG UK support, in order for they to provide support, I will need to have a UK address. Can anyone have similar issue and experience? Is it hardware or software issue? Any advice on this matter is appreciated!!!!!

I have been using my LG E-900 on AT&T's network in the United States for a while now.

I was notified about the February Update for my phone on 3/3, and promptly proceeded to install it.

After installing the update, I am unable to use any data services thru AT&T. When I try anything, I get the message:

You might have lost your cellular data connection.
    Try the following:
Check your Wi-Fi and cellular data settings.
If available, connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Of course, everything works just fine over Wi-Fi.

I tried to restore the phone using Zune, but I don't see the option to do that.

I have tried resetting the phone to factory settings; even that has not worked.

I would appreciate any help with this issue. My phone is not "smart" without data!

I was one of the attendees in PDC10 and got the windows phone 7 there. It has worked fine in the beginning three months, then started rebooting randomly. And the things are getting even worse, not matter I try to use any of the functions for about 2 minutes, it turns to black screen with a white LG logo on it! Not even able to reboot it by pressing the power button. I try to take the battery out and plug in it again, sometimes, it still doesn't work, unless I hold on around half hour before putting the battery back.
I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. So I tried to contact LG support Canada, but they don’t offer the service for me as this phone is not from any carriers here.
So I am not able to do any development work on this device now. Can anyone here help me on this?

    Thanks and I appreciated!
