  • What do you mean by, eligible? I attended PDC09 yesterday under a student pass, does that include me?

Unfortunately I'm on a press-pass, so that leaves me out.

Why no gov? We work in a self supported, non-grant funded
program at a university. Any way ours could be given to the school?
We would love to have our students develop on this combo of hardware.

markc: Gift and ethics requirements for governments around the world effectively forbid Microsoft from giving "gifts" to government employees.

Eric: why the change from last year? yes, we were here. yes, we received the hard drives, t-shirts, etc. somehow, this year, we are precluded from receiving even a T-Shirt for the conference that we paid the full amount to attend.

I would understand if there were some gov discounts to attending, but there were none. we paid the same amount everyone else did. as markc said, we aren't publicly funded, we just have the stigma of being "government" employees.

The ethical rules for gifts apply to giving to the employee... so could Microsoft donate them to the school instead?
As Joeb says we had to pay the full conf price, therefore it seems it would be just to provide the same benefit to the school.

Still not enough answer for ms employees. İt is really one of the biggest shames on pdc. How can we make demos to customers for a tech that Even we can not use.

Do corp believe that we will pay for it from our budget?

İ think, Very demotivating attitude toward employees....

We will call the attendents for demo if we need:(
