If you are attending PDC in Redmond this year, don’t miss the opportunity to be one of the first to take the new beta exams Designing and Developing Windows Azure Applications (Exam 71-583) and Developing Microsoft Silverlight 4 Applications (Exam 71-506).

These exams have limited availability and are provided on a first-come-first-served basis. You must register at least 24 hours prior to taking the exam. Just visit http://prometric.com/microsoft and follow the regular registration process. Be sure to select “United States” for country, “Washington” for state/province and “Professional Developer Conference 2010” as the testing site.

You can also register at the testing lab (located in Building 40), which will be open Wednesday, October 27^th through Friday, October 29^th,from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. See updated transportation information below.

Transportation Update for PDC10 Beta Exam Takers

There has been a change in providing transportation between buildings 33 and 40 for attendees who have registered to take the Silverlight and Azure beta exams.

The new process for arranging transportation is as follows:

1. Inform the receptionist at Building 33 that you need a “red route” shuttle to Building 40

2. The shuttle wait time will be about 5 minutes

3. When you finish your testing, inform the receptionist in Building 40 that you’d like to request a shuttle back to Building 33

We’re excited that you’re coming to join us at PDC10 next month! We’re so excited, in fact, that we’re offering a free, hands-on, deep-dive workshop immediately following the PDC.

Register now for the PDC10 Workshop and start applying what you will learn about during PDC. The PDC10 Workshop is focused on Windows Phone 7 and Windows Azure.

● Windows Azure developers will get hands-on experience with the newest cloud services and features.

● Windows Phone 7 developers can bring an existing app or start a new one and develop against actual devices. Goodbye, emulator.

● Learn from product team engineers who will be standing by to answer your hard questions.

● Attend interactive, small-group sessions that go beyond what you will experience at PDC.

When? Saturday, October 30^th, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., followed by dinner and drinks from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Who? This event has limited capacity and is only open to registered PDC10 attendees at this time. Registration is required. After registering, please allow 2 business days for us to confirm your registration.

Cost? This event is free! Please register only if you can commit to attending. Microsoft will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Attendees are responsible for their own travel and accommodations.

Yep, it’s true, general availability of Azure will be announced at PDC (buy a datacenter in the cloud, if you will) but don’t think that’s all we’ve got up our sleeves! The Windows Azure Platform has come a long way in the last year since it was first announced at PDC last year, and we have a lot of progress to talk about, plus new innovations that we’ll unveil at PDC this year – listen to James as he drops hints as to what those announcements will be. And speaking of hints, don’t forget, Mike’s last HardHat Challenge remains unsolved. He drops another clue in this show, so listen carefully!
